Every now and again, one of our readers drops us a line to ask us to check out their site, and possibly feature it on ours. We love it when stuff like this happens because it allows us to discover such gems as this fascinating site, created and run by Jason Scoggins, a lit manager in Hollywood. To say that one could spend hours paging through the various projects in development that are looking for writers and/or directors is not hyperbole. We’ve gotten lost there ourselves, saved only by the sound of a ringing phone. It’s essentially a subscription-supported database of open writing assignments (or OWAs, for those who don’t know better, like us), open directing assignments (ODAs, natch), spec scripts, and status reports of projects in development at the various studios. It’s an incredibly well organized, well-researched and well put together site that really rivals others like the Hollywood Creative Directory and IMDB Pro, to name two. Itsonthegrid, according to Scoggins, “is the only place to see aggregated info on OWAs and ODAs if you don’t work at one of the big agencies (who do this for their internal purposes). It’s also the only database-driven site for spec script information that I’m aware of.” Again, it’s a subscription-based service, so you’ll have to sign up, but if you’re in the game and want to know what’s going on in the development world, it’s totally worth it.
